T hough many Americans plan trips abroad in hopes of discovering and exploring mysterious, unexplained megalithic artifacts from Earth's mysterious past, such as the pyramids of Egypt and of Mexico, many forget that America also has its own share of mysterious megalithic structures, not all of which are ancient.

Perhaps the least known, but possibly the most important of these American megaliths is Coral Castle, located in Homestead, Florida just southwest of Miami. And though Coral Castle, some believe, may have been built using the same esoteric techniques that the pyramid builders had used to build their own towering structures, the most important difference between the Coral Castle and the pyramids is the fact that it was built not thousands, or even tens of thousands of years ago, but only a few decades ago, in the middle of the twentieth century, by an enigmatic, self-made man named Ed Leedskalnin.

Who Was Ed Leedskalnin?
Ed Leedskalnin

Ed Leedskalnin, 1887-1951. Ed was born in Riga, Latvia, but emigrated to America in search of fame and fortune. Though only five feet tall and 100 pounds, a lifetime of labor had made Ed strong for his size, but not strong enough to explain how he managed to singlehandedly cut, dress and move numerous huge blocks of coral, some nearly 30 tons in weight.

As mysterious as the enigmatic Coral Castle was its sole owner and proprietor, Ed Leedskalnin. Ed was born in 1887 into a family of farmers in Stramereens Pogosta, a small village outside of Riga, in Latvia. Ed was a small, frail, and sickly youth, who started off as a simple clerk before he began training to become a stonemason. In 1912, at the age of 26, Ed became engaged to a young woman names Agnes Scuffs, who at 16 years old was a full decade his junior.

Unfortunately for Ed, Young Agnes suddenly backed out on their marriage on the day before the wedding, claiming that he was "too old" for her. Ed, however, believed that there were other reasons for their sudden breakup, including the fact that he was poor, had only a fourth-grade education and, most importantly, he believed, she was in love with someone else. Ed truly loved Agnes, whom he called his "Sweet Sixteen", with a love so strong that it would haunt him the rest of his life.

Heartbroken, Ed left Latvia and went to America in search of fortune and glory. On the way, he tarried for a time in Western Europe, then he roamed Canada for a spell before traveling down through Washington State into California and later into Texas, along the way getting involved in a number of "rugged individualist"-type jobs including logging and driving cattle that helped him to develop the toughness of body and mind that he would need to build the Castle. Part of the reason Ed had started to move southward instead of staying in the north was the fact that he had begun to develop tuberculosis, and was of a mind that a warmer climate would be helpful in fighting it off. Southern Florida had actually been recommended to him as a place that was warm and conducive to health, so Ed completed his tour of America by settling in Florida, City, Florida, where he bought an acre of ground for the princely sum of $12.1

Ed's home/office

While Ed worked during the days, at night he supplemented his knowledge of masonry with an increasing interest in science, astronomy, and even Egyptian history, spending most of his leisure time in research and study. Though his interest in masonry was originally motivated by his interest in putting together a lucrative career so that he could attempt to attract "Sweet Sixteen" to come live with him in Florida, Ed's more esoteric side began to manifest itself more and more over time, a hidden side of the man that had likely had a powerful effect on the life decisions he had been making all along.

This esoteric bent appears to have come from stories his mother told him when he was a little boy. According to Joe Bullard in his excellent book, Waiting for Agnes, a psychic had told Ed's mother that Ed was "a returning spirit from Atlantis ... he will astound the world, bringing back the ancient, lost science once used in building the Great Pyramid. The past is revealed to him in dreams and visions."2 Bullard believes that Ed took this seer's advice to heart, and did indeed believe that he was a reincarnated spirit from ancient Atlantis. In his dreams and visions, he came to believe that he had once lived in Atlantis, where he had once loved a previous incarnation of Agnes Scuffs. Torn between making enough money to try to attract Agnes, and working on a way to prove to the world that he had rediscovered the lost science that the ancient Atlanteans, Egyptians and others had used to build massive, megalithic structures such as the pyramids, Ed chose the latter, and the Coral Castle was begun in earnest.

A Small Heart for Agnes

A small coral heart, one of many tokens of affection for "Sweet Sixteen" to be found around the castle.

However, though Ed chose the latter path, that of rediscovering the ancient, esoteric sciences of the Egyptians and the pre-deluge Atlanteans, Ed was still torn between his love for Agnes, and his desire to rediscover those ancient sciences. As a result, his solution was to integrate the two, and dedicate the building of the castle to his "Sweet Sixteen" Agnes. Not only would Ed frequently talk about Agnes to anyone who would listen, but he expressed his courtly love for her in the form of architecture, including but not limited to a heart-shaped table, a special throne for her next to his, and even sixteen steps up to the top floor of the tower where the bedroom lay.

Ed was 31 years old in 1918 when he settled an acre of isolated land in Florida City, purchased for only twelve dollars. For reasons unknown, he chose to begin secretly carving the first of his coral pieces which would later become an astounding monument for his Sweet Sixteen. Careful not to attract attention, Ed worked on his carvings at night. Then, during the afternoon, after hours of reading his books on magnetic current and cosmic forces, he would sometimes ride his bicycle into town to stock up supplies. Old timers in the area said Ed would stop and talk to them for awhile, purchase sardines, crackers, eggs and milk (his favorite foods) and be on his way to resume his work by nightfall.3

Ed pretty much chose an ascetic lifestyle of total self-reliance, a spartan existence, totally dedicating himself to his craft. But why would someone live such an ascetic lifestyle, without having some sort of secret to hide? Could he have indeed discovered the ancient secrets of the world before the Flood? The very existence of the Castle seems to scream "Yes!" long after Ed had left the world stage. As Christopher Dunn explains in his seminal work, The Giza Power Plant,

A Small Heart for Agnes

"The Great Obelisk", one of Ed's greatest achievements. The Great Obelisk is over 25 feet tall and weighs over 28 tons, making it taller than the Great Upright at Stonehenge. Ed carved onto it his birthdate, the date of the creation of the Obelisk, and the date it was moved to its new home in Homestead. The hole at the top is in the shape of a Latvian star. At sunrise at certain times of the year, the Obelisk would overshadow the heart-shaped "Feast of Love Table" that had been dedicated especially for Sweet Sixteen.

Leedskalnin devised a means to single-handedly lift and maneuver blocks of coral weighing up to 30 tons each. In Homestead, Florida, using his closely guarded secret, he was able to quarry and construct an entire complex of monolithic blocks of coral in an arrangement that reflected his own unique character. On average, the weight of a single block used in the Coral Castle was greater than those used to build the Great Pyramid. He labored for 28 years to complete the work, which consisted of a total of 1,100 tons of rock. What was Leedskalnin's secret? Is it possible for a five-foot tall, 110 pound man to accomplish such a feat without knowing techniques that are uncommon to our contemporary understanding of physics and mechanics? Leedskalnin was a student of the universe. Within his castle walls, built of coral blocks weighing approximately 15 tons each, he had a 22-ton obelisk, a 22-ton moon block, a 23-ton Jupiter block, a Saturn block, a 9-ton gate, a rocking chair that weighed 3-tons, and numerous puzzles. A huge 30-ton block, which he considered to be his major achievement, he crowned with a gable shaped rock. These personal accomplishments have astounded and surprised many engineers and technologists, who compare them with those achieved by workers handling similar weights in industry today. For his miracles of construction engineering, Leedskalnin received attention not only from engineers and technologists, but from the U.S. government, who paid him a visit hoping to be enlightened. Leedskalnin received them gracefully, and they left none the wiser.4

Ed was highly secretive about his work, and had an uncanny knack for knowing when people were spying on him. However, there were a few occasions when people, usually young kids, managed to sneak a peek at Ed's nocturnal sorceries:

One story says that some curious neighbors did see how Leedskalnin moved the stones. They say he placed his hands on the stone to be lifted... and sang. Somehow this levitated the great rocks. According to an article in Fate magazine, some teenagers spying on him one evening claimed they saw him float coral blocks through the air like hydrogen balloons, but no one took them seriously. Frank Joseph, in the Fate magazine article, also writes, Alternative science investigators suggest that Leedskalnin somehow learned the secret of the world grid, an invisible pattern of energy lines surrounding the Earth which concentrates points of telluric power where they intersect. It was here, at one of these intersections of Earth energy, that he was supposedly able to move his prodigious stone blocks using the unseen power of our planet.5

Ed had apparently achieved a high degree of understanding of the principles of electricity, particularly, magnetism, though he preferred the term "magneticity" as he believed that electricity and magnetism were two aspects of the basic energy force that powers the universe. Ed believed that all electricity was actually magnetism, and that all matter was made up of magnets, particles of matter that had both positive and negative poles. He even believed that the magnetic force was the force that holds atoms together, and thus the entire universe. Ed explains in his pamphlet, Magnetic Current,

Each particle in the substance is an individual magnet by itself, and both North and South Pole individual magnets. They are so small that they can pass through anything.. In fact they can pass through metal easier than through the air. They are in constant motion, they are running one kind of magnets against the other kind, and if guided in the right channels they possess perpetual power. The North and South Pole magnets they are cosmic force, they hold together this earth and everything on it. Each North and South Pole magnet is equal in strength, but the strength of each individual magnet doesn't amount to anything. To be of practical use they will have to be in great numbers. In permanent magnets they are circulating in the metal in great numbers, and they circulate in the following way: Each kind of the magnets are coming out of their own end of the pole and are running around, and are running in the other end of the pole and back to its own end, and then over and over again. All the individual magnets do not run around. Some run away and never come back, but new ones take their place. The earth itself is a great big magnet. In general these North and South Pole individual magnets are circulating in the same way as in the permanent magnet metal. The North Pole individual magnets are coming out of the earth's South Pole and are running around in the earth's North Pole and back to its own pole, and South Pole individual magnets are coming out of the earth's North Pole and are running around, and in earth South Pole and back to its own end. Then both North and South Pole individual magnets start to run over and over again.6

Ed Leedskalnin and his power generator

By cranking the generator only a few times around to charge the system, Ed was able to charge magnets and generate loads of free electricity, which he used to power his lights and radio for purposes of both construction and entertainment.

Copper field coils

Radio parts

Ed's work involved electrical, magnetic, and radio components — an odd combination to use for lifting stones!

One of Ed's Tripods

One of Ed's tripods that he used to help move the stones. Dunn theorizes that the tripods were part of an elaborate network of copper wiring that nullified Earth's gravity through the use of sound and magnetism. These boxes on tripods might also have functioned as "Tesla towers", radiating wireless electricity for general use within the Castle. Possibly the most important clues of all, they have been lost since Ed's death in 1951.

Since Ed believed that the entire universe was made up of magnets, he deduced that if he could harness the flow of these magnets that flowed in and out of the Earth, and through all objects, he could use that force to manipulate matter to his advantage. This, many believe, was Ed's secret — he harnessed the power of magnetism in order to neutralize the force of gravity on very large, very heavy objects, giving him the ability to move gigantic blocks of coral with ease. But how?

The secret of moving large blocks of stone may indeed not have been discovered, but rediscovered by Ed. Ed himself said that he had found the secrets that the ancient Atlanteans, Egyptians, South Americans, Asians, and other peoples had used to cut and move large stones that would otherwise be impossible to move by conventional means. But do we have records of the ancients "levitating" stones, seemingly overcoming the force of gravity? We do!

There is an intriguing passage in a history text by the 10th century Arab historian, Abul Hasan Ali Al-Masudi, known as the Herodotus of the Arabs. Al-Masudi had traveled much of the known world in his day before settling in Egypt, and he had written a 30-volume history of the world. He too was struck by the magnificence of the Egyptian pyramids and wrote about how their great stone blocks were transported. First, he said, a "magic papyrus" (paper) was placed under the stone to be moved. Then the stone was struck with a metal rod that caused the stone to levitate and move along a path paved with stones and fenced on either side by metal poles. The stone would travel along the path, wrote Al-Masudi, for a distance of about 50 meters and then settle to the ground. The process would then be repeated until the builders had the stone where they wanted it.7

A similar story comes from ancient Tibet, where a group of monks had used sound generated by horns and drums to cause rock to fly up "a parabolic flight track approximately 500 metres long and 250 metres high".8 Following up on these and similar historical clues, engineer and amateur Egyptologist Christopher Dunn had visited Coral Castle in 1982, and had run some simple tests on some of the equipment that Ed had left behind. Remembering that Ed was not only interested in magnetism, but also in radio, upon reviewing the equipment that Ed had left behind, including a magnetic generator and numerous parts of electrical and radio transmitters, Dunn had deduced that Ed, like the ancients, had used sound and magnetism to move the otherwise unmovable rocks. Dunn explains,

Looking around the space, I gazed at a jumble of various devices, lying, hanging, and leaning about the room. There were radio tuners, bottles with copper wire wrapped around them, spools of copper wire, and other various and sundry plastic and metal pieces that looked as if they had fallen out of an old radio set. Leedskalnin's workshop also contained chains, block and tackle, and other items that one might find lying around a junkyard. Some items were missing, though. Photographs of Leedskalnin at work show three tripods — made of telephone poles — that have boxes attached to the top. These objects, however, are not to be found at Coral Castle. What is striking in the photograph is that the block of coral being moved is seen off to the side of the tripod. Perhaps Leedskalnin had moved the tripod after raising the block and tackle out of the bedrock. Another interesting observation is that the block and tackle that can be found inside his workshop is nowhere to be seen in this photograph. There are spools of copper wire in his workshop, and two wrappings of copper wire hang from nails in the wall. One was round copper and the other flat copper. In a narrative that visitors can hear at various recording stations around the compound, it is stated that at one time Leedskalnin had a grid of copper wire suspended in the air. Looking at the photograph again, one can see that there is a cable draped around the tripod and running down to the ground. Perhaps the arrangement of tripods was more related to the suspension of his copper grid than to the suspension of block of tackle. If I were to try to replicate Leedskalnin's feat, I would begin with the premise that he was using his flywheel to generate a single-frequency tunable radio signal. The box at the top of the tripod would contain the radio receiver (there are several tuners in Leedskalnin's workshop), and the cable coming from the box would be attached to a speaker that emitted sound to vibrate the coral rock at its resonant frequency. With the atoms in the coral vibrating (like those in an iron bar), I would then attempt to flip their magnetic poles — which are naturally in an attraction orientation with the Earth — using an electromagnetic field.9

If true, Dunn's theory gives an excellent description of how both the ancients and Ed managed to move large blocks of stone that would otherwise be unmovable. First they aligned the rocks with magnetic north and south, then they would vibrate the rock by using sound. Thus disrupted, over time the atoms in the rock would realign their poles to align with magnetic north and south. After this, an electrical field is set up via either a "track" of stone and long metal tubes (as the Egyptians were reported to do) or a network of wires (as Ed had used), near which a properly magnetized object would be freed of the effects of gravity and could be manipulated as easily as a balloon. Thus, the secrets of magnetism and sound allowed both the ancients and Ed to "steal fire from heaven" in the form of electrical energy that they could use to manipulate matter to their own purposes — to, in effect, create their own reality.

Waiting for Agnes
A Small Heart for Agnes

Ed pointing out his inscriptions on The Great Obelisk to tourists. Ed carved the date of his birth, the date of the creation of the Obelisk, and the date it was moved to its current home in Homestead. Ed gaves tours throughout his life, telling people of his love for "Sweet Sixteen" Agnes, who never even visited him.

Though not many people know this, Ed had originally started to build Coral Castle (which he had originally named "Rock Gate Park") in Florida City, and not Homestead, where it currently resides. Ed had actually picked up and left Florida City for Homestead in 1936, having a friend with a tractor drive the blocks for him while he focused on loading and unloading them off of the old Republic trailer that he had bought for this purpose. As usual, Ed worked secretly at night to load the truck, the driver only being allowed within sight of the truck after it had been fully loaded. It was there, then, in Homestead, that he built the Coral Castle as we know it today, adding a ring of stout walls in a square perimeter around his precious carvings in order to keep out intruders and the merely curious. This is the Coral Castle people visit today, complete with walls and a tower, as well as many additional carvings that he had added to his collection before dying of stomach cancer in 1951 at the age of 64.

Though the official line given for Ed's move from Florida City to Homestead is that the suburbs were coming too close to his secluded castle, others tell the tale that government agents had come in the night, beating Ed and threatening to kill him if he did not stop his experimentation. More recently, advocates of the Free Energy Movement have raised the possibility that these agents were not actually working for the government, but for special interests that strongly influence or even control the government behind the scenes — powerful energy concerns whose hegemony on power production would be threatened if word of Ed's discoveries became known to the general public. Still others claim that Ed had found through his studies that the geomagnetic "ley lines" that some esoteric theorists believe cover the Earth like a grid have a powerful nexus point in Homestead. Apparently, they speculate, two or more of these magnetic "ley" lines of force intersect in Homestead, creating a magnetic "vortex" that was more conducive to Ed's work, possibly even greatly increasing his ability to lift even larger stones. We may never know the truth, but research continues even today thanks to the alternative history and free energy community.

How did Ed do it? Perhaps more important than how is why. Ed said himself that he had rediscovered the methods that the ancient Egyptians and other peoples had used in order to lift and move huge blocks of stone that would otherwise be unmoveable. As a "returning spirit from Atlantis", as his mother told him he was, Ed may have been motivated by the belief that he had been tasked with the mission to help rebuild the world as it was before it had been destroyed by the Flood. As such, this powerful spirit apparently made Ed leave behind life and love in order to pursue his vision of a greater world, wherein every man was able to literally carve out a rugged destiny for himself. And in order to show the world how it was possible for this sort of act to be achieved, Ed shocked the world by building a huge castle of stone all by himself, as a permanent monument to one man's dedication to making for himself a permanent name under heaven.

Ed 'stealing fire from heaven'

Ed "stealing fire from heaven" with the help of one of his tripods. Some believe that these tripods, made of three telephone poles topped with a "box of tricks" filled with unknown electronic equipment, were basically mini, portable Tesla towers that Ed used to broadcast "magneticity" within a given radius to help lift and move stones.

But there is more to be considered here. No mean feat was this Coral Castle, and no mean spirit was behind its construction. Only the most powerful of spirits would have access to such advanced technology, probably the same spirits who had given mankind similar technology in times past. As we have seen in recent articles, particularly those concerning Atlantis, the pyramids and giants, historical records uniformly show that in ancient times a group of powerful beings had come down from heaven and given mankind gifts of technology. Particularly prominent is the Greek myth of Prometheus the titan, whom it was believed had stolen "fire" from heaven and given it to mankind, fire being the most basic form of technology. This myth might actually be symbolic of something much more important, a knowledge of how to manipulate and redirect the basic forces, or "fires", of the universe to use to forge one's own destiny on Earth, independent from the control of God — the very same "fires" that Ed had used to build the Castle.

We have also argued in these and other articles that the event recorded in the myth of Prometheus is the same as the Genesis 3 event, where the eating of the apple had something to do with the transmission of "knowledge", or information about advanced technologies that the "serpent" had stolen from heaven. Similarly, the Book of Enoch describes how a demon named Azazel had also sinned by giving mankind forbidden technologies that he had stolen from heaven, the result being the corruption of mankind and its eventual destruction by the Flood. And though these references are important to establishing how truly important Coral Castle is in the larger scheme of history, perhaps the most relevant passage to cap off our study of Coral Castle are some enigmatic verses to be founds in the Prophesy of Ezekiel, chapter 28:

2 Son of man, say unto the prince of Tyrus, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Because thine heart is lifted up, and thou hast said, I am a God, I sit in the seat of God, in the midst of the seas; yet thou art a man, and not God, though thou set thine heart as the heart of God:
13 Thou hast been in Eden the garden of God; every precious stone was thy covering, the sardius, topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold: the workmanship of thy tabrets and of thy pipes was prepared in thee in the day that thou wast created.
14 Thou art the anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee so: thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire.
15 Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee.
16 By the multitude of thy merchandise they have filled the midst of thee with violence, and thou hast sinned: therefore I will cast thee as profane out of the mountain of God: and I will destroy thee, O covering cherub, from the midst of the stones of fire. (Ezek. 28:2, 13-16)

Though Ed was not only not the prince of Tyre described in this passage, he was a very kind and generous man, consider the following:

Ed built his castle "in the midst of the seas", in Florida, which lies between the Atlantic and the Gulf of Mexico (v. 2)

Ed built a "throne room" which features the Moon and planets, an arrogant act wherein he appears to have set himself up as a god. Heart-shaped stones were also prominent in the Castle (v. 2)

Eden is described in this passage as a garden of stones (v. 13)

Ed appears to have used sound, or music, as a means of vibrating the stones in order to help magnetize them. Tabrets and pipes are musical instruments, much like those used by the Tibetan monks (op cit) to move large stones (v. 13)

Ed literally walked among the "stones of fire", the rocks that he had charged with "magneticity" in order to move them about with ease. The image some witnesses report of Ed walking among huge, floating rocks is chillingly illustrative of this passage (v. 14)

Ed died of stomach cancer at only 64 years of age. This may have been caused by excessive exposure to electrical and magnetic "fire" that caused the cancer in his "midst". Similarly, Tesla's experiments were halted partly because local wildlife and cattle were being adversely affected. As a result, of this "iniquity" in his "midst", Ed was taken from the midst of the "stones of fire" (vv. 15-16)

The Feast of Love Table

The Feast of Love Table, which Ed built for Agnes to express for her the fire of love that burned for her in his heart.

Though again, Ed was a very simple, nice and likeable person, it appears that he had a dark side. Perhaps the Castle, besides being a monument to lost love and an attempt to reintroduce the technology from the world before the Flood, was the means by which Ed exorcised his personal demons. The development of a throne, that giant "obelisk", and other similar monuments to his own greatness definitely show an extreme level of arrogance that he kept as hidden as his technological secrets. His obsessive love for Agnes and his generally extreme rugged individualistic attitude towards life in general kept Ed alienated from his fellow man, causing him to spend his entire life building a castle of stone to keep others out, and his love in. Sweet Sixteen never came to visit Ed, even after she had divorced her husband, probably fearing Ed's obsession for her. Love can make even a gentle man like Ed mad with passion, putting a fire in his heart of darkness that can rage out of control and destroy him and those he loves. Perhaps it was not the magneticity that caused the cancer in Ed's midst, but the fire of his unrequited love for Agnes that finally burned out the heart of this exceptional man. Interestingly, the name Agnes is from the word ignis, a Latin word that means "fire". More likely than not, we have only just begun to scratch the surface of the mystery of Coral Castle, just one of many incredible artifacts of Earth's mysterious past.Mysterious World bullet

The Coral Castle Experience
The Castle needs to be visited in order to be truly appreciated. Like all tourism destinations, seeing and experiencing is always more enjoyable than viewing pictures. For that reason, we will not spend an inordinate amount of time describing every single sculpture and feature of the Castle. For more specific information, click on the map below to be taken to a clickable map of Coral Castle in our Maps section.
Coral Castle map Polaris Telescope North Wall Throne Room 9 Ton Gate The Great Obelisk Ed's BBQ Repentance Corner Bedroom Bathtub The Well Sun Couch Moon Fountain Florida Table Sundial Grotto of 3 Bears Feast of Love Table Reading Chairs Three Ton Gate The Tower

Polaris Telescope: The "Polaris Telescope" is actually a sighting device that Ed used to mark true north, where the crosshairs in the telescope mark Polaris, the North Star.

North Wall: The North Wall contains over 150 tons of rock, including a single rock that is nearly 30 tons all by itself. It is crowned by a large gable-shaped stone, indicating Ed's pride in his achievement.

Throne Room: This is the most elaborate and mysterious part of the Castle. Ed's throne is surrounded by another for "Sweet Sixteen", and a third for his mother in law, which was behind his own. Representations of Mars, Saturn and the crescent moon adorn this crude monument, giving it a sort of barbaric splendour.

9-Ton Gate: The famous 9-ton gate is remarkable in that it is a single piece of stone that is so perfectly balanced on its axis that even a child can move it.

The Great Obelisk: The Great Obelisk, at 25 feet high and 28 tons, is possibly Ed's greatest achievement and source of pride. It is taller even than the Great Upright at Stonehenge. Ed indicated its importance by carving his birthdate, the year it was created, and the year it was moved upon its face.

Ed's BBQ: Ed's "barbeque", a stone-pressure cooker that he created out of solid rock. Ed used to love to have cookouts for the kids who visited the castle.

Repentance Corner: This was Ed's detention center, which he would have used had he had children. His plan was to wedge the head of a naughty child (or wife) into a hole in the wall with a piece of wood, and then scold them from the seat opposite the hole.

Bedroom: Though Ed slept in the tower, these extra beds may have been for overnight guests.

Bathtub: Ed would pour fresh water into this tub in the morning and let the sun warm it until he had a warm bath ready for him every afternoon.

The Well: Ed carved out this well which he used not only for gathering fresh water, but also as a natural refrigerator.

Sun Couch: This curiously shaped couch was ideal for sunbathing.

Moon Fountain: Ed built this fountain for guests to admire, but important information may be encoded in its mysterious construction.

Florida Table: Ed built this Florida-shaped table and accompanying chairs for the governor of Florida and his cronies to use when they were figuring out ways to raise taxes. It even includes a built-in finger bowl in the shape of Lake Okeechobee.

Sundial: Ed created the sundial to measure out his working hours from 9 to 4 each day. It is so accurate that with practice, one can tell the time within a few minutes.

Grotto of 3 Bears: This "grotto" is a play area based upon the children's fairytale, "Goldilocks and the 3 Bears". There are chairs and beds for Papa, Mama, and Baby Bear, and even a heart-shaped chair for Goldilocks.

Feast of Love Table: This perfectly heart-shaped table was built by Ed for Sweet Sixteen as a permanent valentine, just in case he forgot Valentine's Day. It is considered to be the world's biggest valentine to this day.

Reading Chairs: Ed used these chairs to read during the day, when he was not working or sunning himself on the sun couch.

3 Ton Gate: This gate defines the entrance to the park.

The Tower: The tower contains 243 tons of stone made of huge blocks that weigh an average of 9 tons each. The lower level served as a workshop, and the upper level served as the master bedroom.

Coral Castle is located in Homestead, Florida, just a few miles southwest of Miami, down Highway 1 (directions). Coral Castle is open daily 7 a.m.-9 p.m., year-round. Waiting for Agnes Waiting for Agnes
Joe Bullard
Rating:
One month before Ed's birth in Latvia, a psychic tells his mother that her child is a "returning spirit from Atlantis ... he will astound the world, bringing back the ancient, lost science once used in building the Great Pyramid. The past is revealed to him in dreams and visions." Through his dreams and visions, as Ed builds Coral Castle in Homestead, Florida, he relives a past life in Atlantis where he discovers a past relationship with his lost love, Agnes Scuffs. Ed tries to understand why he has returned at this time ... is it to mend his broken relationship with Agnes? Or, should he focus on proving to the world his discovery of the lost science used in pyramid building. On a visit to Honduras, a group of Mayan Indians told Ed's Grandfather Nick that, thousands of years ago, their ancestors were visited by "men from the sky" beings who gave them the "secrets of the pyramids." Nick explained to Ed that the Mayans told him that "a race of alien beings existed on the earth at the time of Atlantis; that the aliens were once "spirit beings" who came down to mate with the beautiful earth women, and that once they came, they were now trapped in a human form and could only escape the body through death. (You will find a variation of this explanation in the Bible at Genesis 6). Ed encounters these "men from the sky" beings in his dreams as he seeks knowledge on how he was able to break the secret code of the Great Pyramid. (Review by the Author)

The Giza Power Plant
Christopher P. Dunn
Rating:
Suspicion naturally arises when you read a promo line on a back cover that says, "This is the most important book concerning the Great Pyramid written in the last 20 years." In this case, however, it may be fact. In writing The Giza Power Plant, mechanical engineer Christopher Dunn reverse-engineered the Great Pyramid at Giza to discover its use. His startling conclusions blow the heck out of traditional Egyptology's rather silly notions that it was built with copper tools by a society that lacked the wheel. While revisionist pyramid studies are rife with ridiculous theories that give the topic a bad name, The Giza Power Plant takes into account existing fact and artifact without having to rely on unprovable assertions. A must-read for truth seekers who aren't afraid to consider the idea that Western culture of the 21st century may not be the pinnacle of human evolution and achievement. (Review by Amazon.com)

Thief [Soundtrack]
Tangerine Dream
Rating:
Thief's dark noir spaces are tinged with the neon palette that has become the trademark of director Michael Mann (Miami Vice, Heat). This was his first theatrical film, and all the elements that characterize his later style (and this is a very stylistic film) are dominant. Equal parts grit and glamour, the story is simple. Frank (James Caan) is a lone-wolf jewel thief who was, in his words, brought up "by the state." In prison he was apprenticed to a master thief, played by Willie Nelson. When Frank's successful career comes to the attention of an avuncular syndicate boss (Robert Prosky), Frank is offered (and accepts against his better judgment) a deal that should allow him to retire and enjoy the family life he covets. But the deal sours, and Frank is left to decide what his nature truly is, lone wolf or family man. The film was photographed beautifully by Donald Thorin and further emboldened by the driving rhythms of Tangerine Dream, whose superb soundtrack to the film is one of the best electronic scores ever developed. The Wall
Pink Floyd
Rating:
Pink Floyd's The Wall is one of the best and most complete rock and roll albums ever created. Powered by lead Roger Waters' personal demons and taken over the top by David Gilmour's superb artistry, The Wall is a superb example of the classic rock genre. This album represented the peak of the original Pink Floyd, which was finally driven apart by Waters' intensity in the making of this album. The Wall is also unique in that it tells a story of lost love and alienation, which forms the underlying theme that runs throughout the album. In the album and in the movie, "Pink" is the lead of a rock and roll band who, after being betrayed by his wife, sets out on an odyssey of personal discovery through the medium of sex, drugs and rock and roll. Burned out, spent and on the brink of insanity near the end of his journey, Pink realizes that throughout his whole life he has been building a psychological "wall" to protect himself from the emotional and psychological predations of others, and that in order to survive he must face his fears and "break down the wall" that separates him from the ones who really love him. An amazing album and very fitting for our study of Coral Castle and Ed's motivations for building it. (Review by Mysterious World)
